In my first people management function I managed a team of technical trainers/teachers who delivered Hardware Trainings for VAX and PDP Minicomputers at Digital Equipment.
A group of permanent employees had to deliver the majority of base trainings. Highly specialised training courses had to be delivered by getting external specialists in to deliver the trainings. It was not economical to keep permanent resources available for certain training subjects which only got taught once a quarter.
Despite the usual personnel management tasks it was also necessary to educate the team members with fast evolving technology, which had an impact on the time they had available to deliver trainings.
